Finding Large Shirts That Fit And Flatter

With a few simple guidelines, big men can stock their wardrobes with a versatile selection of flattering shirts that fit, from the convenience of their home.

Shirts for work and play are wardrobe must-haves for men of all sizes.  Big men, though, face unique challenges when shopping for new large shirts.  With the wide range of colors, patterns, styles and cuts available online, knowing what looks best for the big man's shape and size is not always easy.  Big men will find that the "old rules" of what looks good on men of large size and stature do not necessarily apply today, and they can and should enjoy a wide variety of colors and patterns that appeal to them and offer versatility.

1. 1. Don't be afraid of large shirts with stripes!

It used to be believed that a big man should never wear horizontal stripes, and that doing so would only make him look wider.  The truth, though, is that horizontal stripes can actually be a slimming choice for big men.  The secret is in the width of the stripes.  Wider stripes will, indeed, add visually to the size of the chest and torso, but many men are surprised to learn that narrow horizontal stripes are flattering and look great.  Sticking to dark or neutral colors in stripes is a slimming choice, as well.

1. 2. Choose the right collar away from work.

For comfort on the weekend, nothing beats a classic cotton large t-shirt.  But how to make the most flattering choice in t-shirts is confusing because aren't they all alike?  The answer is no.  The difference in casual weekend t-shirts most always lies in the collar style.  A round collar that is tight at the neck is not the most flattering choice for larger men.  A polo-style shirt left mostly unbuttoned or even a v-neck T is the more flattering choice because the angle of the collar visually slims and lengthens the neck and give the entire upper body a boost.  V-neck and polo shirts make the most of big men's strong, broad shoulders while minimizing the appearance of trouble spots.

1. 3. Think classic Oxford for the office.

Nothing makes the most of a big man's physique than a well-cut suit.  When the blazer comes off in the office, men can look polished and professional with a classic Oxford large shirt.  Its clean lines and tailored look are available in large sizes, and there is generous room in the torso and the longer arm that many require in a work shirt.  Look for subtle patterns and a fit that is comfortable but not too blousy and unfitted.  With the right Oxford work shirt, you'll look distinguished and ready for big business.
