Men's Pea Coats
Men's pea coats are popular not because of the style or its appearance. A lot of women do not know but the reason why these sell is because of their symbolism. They were not jackets created by fashion designers to ruin their competition. These were actually worn by men of honor back in the period of war. Because of that, this piece of apparel is considered to be a symbol of strength and, in a way, power.
Back in the 19th century, these coats were worn by pilots. Besides these men, European soldiers and navy men also wore these. It was later on that Americans and other soldiers used these pea coats. Usually, these were worn by those stationed in cold climates. Pea jackets were made of wool and extended until the knee. If you do some research, you'll find out that in Dutch, the fabric that was used to create these started with the letter 'P', hence the name Pea Coat. In addition, these were also called as 'Pilot Jackets'.
Later on, these were used in many movies and were given even more recognition. With big stars wearing these and portraying men of war, men were easily swayed to owning these pieces of clothing.
Due to it's practicality and popularity, it has been produced in modern times. Without altering its original design, clothing manufacturers have added some changes to it – its length, its fabric and so on. At present, even women are given the opportunity to own their very own pea coat. Nonetheless, a number of guys are still seen wearing men's pea coats during cold seasons.
